Speakers

Karen Couldrey, Managing Director, Global Head of Corporate Access – Scotiabank Global Banking and Markets (Moderator)

Karen is the Managing Director and Global Head of Corporate Access for Scotiabank Global Banking and Markets (GBM). In her current role she manages a global team responsible for connecting executive management teams with institutional investors. Her team hosts several marquis Capital Markets Industry conferences annually. Previous to this role she led the sales team for Scotiabank’s Electronic Execution Services and Canadian Prime Services divisions and was responsible for client relationship management and sales across Scotiabank’s Equity platform. Karen began her career at UBS in Toronto and Boston and held a variety of positions (Equity Sales Trader, Equity Research Associate Analyst, and Investment Banking Analyst). Karen holds a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics and Engineering from Queen’s University.



Kim Lee, Vice President, Investor Relations, RioCan Real Estate Investment

Kim is Vice-President of Investor Relations at RioCan, where she is the front line for interactions with the capital markets. She is a seasoned Investor Relations professional with 20 years of experience across a number of sectors including, real estate, retail, consumer package goods and life sciences. Prior to joining RioCan she led the Investors Relations function at Maple Leaf Foods, Choice Properties, Loblaw and predecessor to LifeLabs, MDS. As a strong believer of allyship and employee empowerment, she is a proud member of the DEI committee at RioCan. Kim holds a Masters in Science from McGill University and a MBA from McMaster University.



Dennis Mitchell, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer, Starlight Capital

Dennis joined Starlight Capital in March 2018 as Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer. He has over 20 years of experience in the investment industry and has held executive positions with Sprott Asset Management, serving as Senior Vice-President and Senior Portfolio Manager, and Sentry Investments, serving as Executive Vice-President and Chief Investment Officer. Dennis received the Brendan Wood International Canadian TopGun Award in 2009, 2010, and 2011 and the Brendan Wood International 2012 Canadian TopGun Team Leader Award. He also received the Afroglobal Television Excellence Award for Enterprise in 2020 and the Black Business and Professionals Association’s Harry Jerome President’s Award in 2021. Dennis holds the Chartered Financial Analyst and Chartered Business Valuator designations and earned a Master of Business Administration from the Schulich School of Business at York University in 2002 and an Honors Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Wilfrid Laurier University in 1998. Dennis currently sits on the Board of the Toronto Foundation and is Co-Founder and Director of the Black Opportunity Fund.
