Patrick Bryden, Managing Director, Equity Research, Scotiabank (Moderator)
Patrick (CFA) became Head of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Research in 2020 and previously ranked first nine times in the annual Brendan Wood International and Greenwich Associates institutional surveys as an energy analyst. Mr. Bryden also ranked number one in Brendan Wood International’s inaugural year for the category of ESG in 2022, and Scotiabank was awarded Best Specialist ESG Research at the ESG Investing Awards in 2023. Mr. Bryden served on the Natural Gas Expert Group for the Alberta Royalty Review, advised the Province of Alberta on the calibration of its Modernized Royalty Framework, and further served on the ESG Working Group of the Government of Alberta. Mr. Bryden serves on the Research Advisory Council of the Institute for Sustainable Finance, housed at Queen’s University’s Smith School of Business, and the ESG Data Working Group, the Natural Capital Working Group, and the Sustainable Finance Virtual Network for the Canadian Fixed-Income Forum of the Bank of Canada. Mr. Bryden has raised more than $145,000 for the Movember Foundation and Ovarian Cancer Canada in his time at Scotiabank GBM. He has a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree from the University of Calgary and is a CFA charterholder.



Sabrina Dias, Founder & Chief Executive Officer, SOOP Strategies Inc.
Sabrina is a seasoned expert with over 25 years in the mining and sustainability sectors, and the Founder and CEO of SOOP Strategies Inc. A Licensed Professional Engineer of Ontario and a Certified Board Director, she has spearheaded sustainable growth initiatives through deep expertise in ESG integration and strategic business sustainability.

Her robust field experience spans the globe, working on-site in the mining sector. Sabrina’s involvement ranges from exploration stage projects to EPCM to operations, equipping her with a comprehensive view of the industry's challenges and opportunities, bringing real perspective to her corporate roles. Her academic credentials include a Bachelor of Engineering and Society from McMaster University (1998) and a Master’s in Environmental Studies from York University, enhanced by a Graduate Diploma in Business and Environment from the Schulich School of Business (2004).

Sabrina is recognized for her strategic acumen in aligning major projects with global business goals, including compliance, budgeting, and diverse ESG mandates. Her pioneering work in sustainability strategy, performance benchmarking, and stakeholder engagement establishes her as a leader dedicated to promoting both ethical practices and commercial success in the mining industry. Awarded the Excellence in Sustainability Award by the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy, and Petroleum (CIM) in 2021, she is also the author of "Integrating Sustainability into Major Projects: Best Practices and Tools for Project Teams" (Wiley, 2020).





Ani Markova, Co-Founder and Business Development, Onyen Corporation
Ani Markova is a Co-Founder of Onyen Corporation, an innovative ESG Reporting system for public and private companies, and is currently focused on business development for the organization.

With over 25 years of experience in the capital markets, including a successful investment career managing up to $2 billion of mutual fund assets, Ms. Markova has a proven track record in integrating macroeconomic trends, equity analysis, and environmental, social and governance (ESG) assessments into strategic capital allocations and risk management. As an independent board member of three resource companies, she has taken on board leadership roles, including chairing sustainability committees and serving on audit, governance, and compensation committees. Ms. Markova has expertise in finance, capital allocation, macroeconomics and commodity cycles and is committed to assisting businesses in transitioning to a decarbonized and sustainable future.

Ms. Markova is currently an independent director of SilverCrest Metals Inc. (TSX: SIL, NYSE: SILV) and Critical Elements Lithium Corporation (TSX: CRE.V). She also served as an independent director of Golden Star Resources, which was acquired in January 2022. Prior to the acquisition, Golden Star Resources received the inaugural Mines & Money 2021 ESG Producer of the Year award. Ms. Markova holds an MBA from George Washington University in Washington DC, Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Canadian Investment Management (CIM), Corporate Directors International (CDI.D) and Competent Boards (GCB.D) designations.
