Marcus is Managing Director, Capital Markets Intelligence and Proxy Advisory - Canada for Morrow Sodali. Prior to Morrow Sodali's acquisition of Gryphon Advisors Inc., Marcus was the Senior Vice President, Strategy and Operations at Gryphon. Marcus has a wealth of experience in corporate finance with a passion for advising clients on matters pertaining to proxy solicitation, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions and shareholder activism in Canada, the U.S. and globally.

Marcus has acted as operational lead providing clients with strategic consultation on some of the highest profile proxy fights and transactions in Canada, including, Cation Capital’s agitations towards Crescent Point Energy, Agrium’s successful board defense against Jana Partners, Canadian Tire’s acquisition of Forzani Group, BCE’s acquisition of Bell Aliant, as well as most recently Sandpiper Group’s shareholder action against Artis REIT and Canadian National Railway Co.’s board defense against TCI Fund Management Ltd.

In addition to Marcus’ vast experience in the proxy solicitation and mergers and acquisitions arenas, Marcus leads Morrow Sodali’s Canadian strategic stock surveillance program which provides clients with a deep and thorough understanding of their shareholder base, by regularly updating for changes in holdings, and with a particular emphasis on activism detection. Our Capital Markets Intelligence program brings the most up-to-date insight on trading dynamics and identification of real-time shifts to the ownership profile.


Mike McLeod, Senior Director, Business Development, Morrow Sodali

Mike is Senior Director, Business Development at Morrow Sodali. Prior to Morrow Sodali's acquisition of Gryphon Advisors, Mike was responsible for business development and client relationships, primarily in Western Canada for Gryphon.

Based in Calgary, Mike has over 40 years of experience in the corporate financial services industry. He has built a strong network of contacts in the Capital Markets and is seen as a reliable source of knowledge by the Issuer community regarding shareholder communications including governance, proxy related matters, AGMs and M&A transactions.

As a member of the Canadian Investor Relations Institute and Governance Professionals Canada, Mike has been a long serving member of the Calgary chapters of both organizations. During his extensive career Mike has been involved in some of the largest M&A transactions and proxy fights.
